I can’t believe that bitch at the start! The cheek of her!
It’s the first time I’ve heard your voice and your accent is incredible endearing!
I really enjoyed the short film, fuck, it was so raw. I love that it's created for art and for art's sake, not to make money. That's how I create my art too, and I'm sure you do too.
Keep up the great writing and great art Cintra! ❤️
SLART
P.S. Dope art as per usual. 👌
P.P.S Also... Daaaaaamn! Who invited Cindy Lauper's better lookin' sister?
That’s a basic and appalling generational shift that you note here, whereby cachet becomes exclusively about theft — aka “sampling,” “curating,” “flipping,” and other euphemisms for the supposed highest form of flattery, without credit, attribution, or compensation. (Grrrr….)
"So what are you waiting for? All the heat's leaking out." LOVE this, Cintra. From the long panning cityscape shots to the kid sucking on the last of his shake (Was it truly a malt? We'll never know.) You jump off the screen like a 1940s gangster's moll, complete with accent. Thanks so much for sharing! It's a dirty NYC holiday gift.
Here's a story: "met" in the early 90s. I was living on Carl and Stanyan and you were walking down the street with Rob Penfield (a college acquaintance who I think you were dating - and I think was a bartender/oyster shucker at the Deluxe at the time) and I was sitting in my window and waved down to say "Hello" and it was kind of weird and awkward and funny.
You two were so beautiful and glamorous and I was the dork in the window.
The side-story to that is that as an LA native, the lack of screens on the windows in SF was a marvel to me. I *could* actually wave out of my window. No screens!
I'm looking forward to reading more! I only wish I had all of the money in the world to subscribe to all of the Substacks! If/when (keep hope alive!) I win the lottery, I'm upgrading to paid!
I've been reading about perception recently and I found that there's a lag between the emotional brain and the logical brain.
The eyes are just lenses that transmit electrical impulses to the brain. The brain builds fabrications that it then evaluates emotionally and then logically.
These fabrications are molded by expectations. These create the blind spots. Magicians use this gap in space time to do tricks.
The two best books I've read outside of books by magicians like Quicker than the Eye by John Mulholland which is more of a history book, The Way of the Wolf by Jordan Belfort and The Psychology of Intelligence Analysis by Richards Heuer. The second was written for the CIA. The first is more about sales and persuasion, but Jordan understands deep concepts and explains them plainly.
my old band played some dates with Richards band back in the day, I wish we’d crossed paths when this was shot. I loved it! You’re one of my favorite people on earth, Cintra! ❤️

Aww shuckins SLART! So delighted you enjoyed it!
I loved it! 🙏 are you in any more short films? And… do you recommend any?
I did one you might like. It was my follow-up to Winter Steele, but it was banned from MTV for having too many automatic weapons. https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=10155013758131707&id=102539341706&paipv=0&eav=AfZaOBO9h1b9MVPrpDP8eS90mHqdofLAqvM1cNqFO9yuya6hl7hkxBqtZmWler6ocko&_rdr
Daaaamn I can’t see it. Is it on YouTube too?
Sadly no! Did the link not work, or are you not on Facebook?
The link said “content cannot be found”
Fun project. Great share. 🎬💙
Thank you Baba Mori!

Yeah, Noam Chomsky says that AI is the greatest theft of property since we genocided the Native Americans.

New subscriber, and THAT was a fantastic story!
Welcome, Lady Starr! Much appreciated!

Woah, what a cool memory! That Penfield was certainly a looker!
Innit!
Some people stink of privilege.
Yus, and soooo oblivious to it.
Psychic blind spots. They explain a great deal about human behavior.
Absolutely, would love to hear your thoughts...

That is one hell of an interesting comment, Raj. Thank you!
I thought the same
Thank you. I find the subject super fascinating.
I love it, do you recommend any reading on this?

Wow! Very cool. That’s quite a cast including Miho Nikaido. Was this before she married Hal Hartley?
During, actually!
Hilarious! You are epic! Also enhanced for me by the fact that I (still) know both those guys.
I love you Lucy!! Have I ever told you that you were my very first, #1 paid subscriber? Have I told you I love you for it?
I love that painting!
Thank you much!
