I love that the surfing world loved this!! I’m sure they ate up your descriptions of the key figures. Can’t believe Surfer reprinted it so many years later! Kills me that you read the magazine every month. Writers are such readers. Tiger Beat! Your performance/reaction to Shea not telling YOU about his beef with the judging was awesome. Wanting to be someone’s—in this case, Cory’s— favorite aunt or waitress is a deeply relatable sentiment. Just what is it about sullen badasses that makes them so exciting, so appealing?
