Thank you for saying exactly all (and so much, wonderfully, more) that I came away with from this "film". I purchased it as soon as it was available for streaming, believing that it would be something similar to the original or worth watching... I was wrong on both accounts. This article makes me want to watch it again in a Mystery Science Theater 3000 setting with your audio at the helm.

Great piece, as per usual. I liked 2049 more than you did, even though I didn't know what the hell was going on most of the time. I didn't know what was going on most of the time in 1982 either, and the 1st release was so mangled by WB committees (that fucking voice-over) that I didn't really get interested in figuring it out until Scott got interested in figuring it out and first thing, excised the studio mandated Deckard narration that sounded as though Ford had recorded it in some kind of hostage situation. As a rule, I'd rather watch a Ridley than a Denis, but in this case the two films sync up pretty well, if you're in the mood for a protracted binge on horror flavored eye candy.
Bladerunner is certainly one of my all time favorite movies. Thank you for clarifying and reminding me why 2049 did nothing for me. It had no soul. The animated Bladerunner Black Lotus has some soul.
I just couldn't watch it. Now I really can't watch. or do I have to? omg. I feel like I'm being subjected to a replicant test.
