This population segment must fall into some blindspot of human civilization: deemed inhuman by local predators but likened to “the gorilla or the forest hog” by their ostensible allies (unless I'm misunderstanding resilience.org's brief). Shout-out to Patrick Bebey, whose onstage pygmy-flute performance at a Brooklyn Arcade Fire show in 2017 is probably the closest I’ll ever get to hearing this music myself. Stupid humans.
