How refreshing to read Cintra again...you were the best thing by far in the NYT, which is why they had to kill you. Love the article, I've covered some of this turf too, and will add a couple of notes b/c I'm afflicted with pedantitis: The Zoot Suit movement was, I believe, the first multi-cultural pop culture scene, as some white kids wore it too. And, the Hippies...were not concerned with racial justice. You never read it, you never hear about it, they never said it, on the whole. I got a comeuppance in art school by Vivian Browne when I mentioned a Hippie upbringing - she expressed disappointment that unlike the Beat generation, "Hippie was a White thing, and dropping out meant abandoning the Civil Rights movement." Notes from the other side of the mirror.

Brilliant. Out the park home run. Thank you. Made my day/life. “Style is viral”. When do we get t shirts?

Since I transitioned I can finally enjoy the fashion I've always wanted which means dresses, 30 years of no dresses means I've a lot of dresses that I missed out on and I want to try them all!

I've never had so much fun tbh.

when someone called you the Dorothy Parker of modern times they weren't wrong, oddly I first read Parker in my 20s and It was the first female writer that sparked something in my brain, like a spark of hope
