the terribly written but wonderfully acted show “euphoria” has a scene this reminded me of, where indeed someone in the audience (not drunk) has a Margot moment to hilarious effect!

all "girl interrupted" teasing aside (and you left yourself wide open for that one here) this a finely wrought little story with a moral i definitely can relate to: some trespasses just can NOT be forgiven.... also alcoholism usually=boring unless undertaken with some hmmmmm panache? argh and ugh

Pro tip: if you want people to be sorry that you’re dead, you must not first make them sorry that you’re alive.

Oh man, Joe and Marsha, the Climate, the Billboard Cafe- my childhood in 80's and early 90's SF.

My father co-owned the DNA from it's inception in 1986 until about 1994. He has a selective memory so it's nice to have some reminders of that world! Always love reading your pieces, thank you.

Margot didn't understand the definition of audience...

I fondly remember that show. Not that performance, but that show.

Would have loved to see this play. Reiné Margot aside. Somehow I’m not surprised at your background. I too, was a very very bad kid, and should have spent time in one, but narrowly escaped. But as I grew into adulthood, I realized that the worst kids made the most interesting, and often successful adults. Sending your membership card soon. (BTW: Awesome photo)
